BIF Training and Use Policy

There are full time staff members who provide training in the correct use of the advanced microscopes at our facility. We also provide training and consultation in advanced techniques of microscope imaging, image processing and analysis, as well as weeklong summer workshops on plant and animal paraffin microtechniques.

For all training, please contact us at: bioimaging(AT)berkeley.edu so that your email reaches all BIF staff. Please read the instructions below for how to schedule training and gain access to our facility. For research labs and groups new to our facility, please download and send in the BIF account application form shown below.

Interested in getting trained at BIF?

  • Contact us by email at: bioimaging(AT)berkeley.edu
    • In your email, briefly tell us what your project is about, and what you are hoping to achieve at BIF.
    • Tell us what system(s) you want to get trained on.
  • Fill out our BIF Access Form (you will need this filled out before we grant you access).
  • Once you have completed this training form and are trained, you will be authorized to reserve instrument time and enter the BIF.
  • If you are already trained by us, feel free to reserve instrument time yourself. Contact us for the Calendar signup credentials.

Is your lab new to BIF?

If your lab does not have an account with BIF, please download and fill out an Account Application Form. You can bring it with you to your first training appointment, or email it to us at: bioimaging(AT)berkeley.edu
