The Facility provides training and equipment in the technique of microscope slide preparation ("microtechnique") and other aspects of microscopic tissue investigation. We rely on microwave technology to accelerate the process. Shown here is Dr. Denise Schichnes demonstrating sectioning. In the foreground is out MRA BP111RS tissue processing pven.
Students may learn the methods of paraffin and plastic embedding and sectioning, cryomicrotomy (freezing microtome), in situ hybridization, and immunolocalization by attending the Workshop in Plant & Animal Microtechnique. Associated with advanced microtechnique, students also learn relevant techniques in molecular biology.
